Winter can be brutal on our hair — dry air, harsh winds, and low humidity all work against moisture retention, leaving your strands feeling brittle, frizzy, or even thinning. But your Thursday Reset is here to help you take a mindful pause and pour some love back into your hair care routine. 🌿💆🏾♀️
As the temperatures drop and the air turns dry, our hair often bears the brunt of the season. Winter can leave your strands brittle, dry, and more prone to breakage — especially if you’re rocking natural or textured hair. But with a little intention and the right ingredients, this season can become a time of restoration, not just survival.
Here’s how to strengthen and protect your hair during the colder months using simple, natural ingredients that actually work:
💧1. Start with a Warm Oil Scalp Treatment
Your scalp is the foundation of healthy hair, especially when it’s cold out. Warming up a blend of clove and rosemary-infused olive oil can stimulate blood flow to the scalp, strengthen the follicles, and fight off dryness and flaking.
How to Use:
Warm the infused oil slightly (not too hot!)
Massage gently into your scalp for 5–10 minutes
Cover with a cap and let it sit for 30 mins to an hour
Rinse or co-wash as usual
Rosemary boosts circulation and hair growth, while clove is anti-inflammatory and adds a natural shine.
🌿2. Strengthen with Castor Oil 🛡
Cold-pressed castor oil is a winter MVP. Rich in ricinoleic acid, it locks in moisture and strengthens weak or thinning edges.
Tip: Mix a few drops with peppermint essential oil for an invigorating scalp treatment. Peppermint helps wake up sluggish follicles and supports growth.
Use it on your edges or massage it into your scalp once or twice a week for best results.
🍃3. Refresh with a Rosemary & Peppermint Scalp Spray
These two essential oils are your go-to winter warriors. They not only smell refreshing but also promote thicker, healthier hair by improving circulation and reducing inflammation. Between wash days, your scalp still needs attention. A light mist can rehydrate, refresh, and stimulate without weighing your hair down.
DIY Scalp Spray:
4 oz distilled water
1 tbsp aloe vera juice
5 drops rosemary EO
3 drops peppermint EO
Optional: A drop of castor oil
Store in a spray bottle and shake well before each use. Spritz directly onto the scalp, especially if it's feeling tight, dry, or itchy.
💡 Thursday Reset Tip:
Don’t forget — consistency is key. Choose 1–2 days a week for a nourishing oil treatment, and keep your ends protected in silk or satin, especially at night. Drink water, be gentle, and let this be a relaxing time to reset, not a chore.
